2nd July 2010

We have been joined  by Sue and Simon  from the Polytunnel project in Leitrim they have cycled almost 60 km. to be here. As there is always much to be done we soon set about fitting the old windows into Rosies house. As we dont want to use cement for this purpose  we have dug up some sand rich subsoil and added lime . Perfect for the job.

Here Judy has the task of mixing the lime and sand together it takes a bit of work ,but soon enough the first barrow is ready. Its important to wear  gloves when handling this mix and be careful not to get it on the skin .

Its probably best to mix  a small bit at a time .

The walls here very old and some of the lime plaster pointing has become loose so replacing it will help keep the draughts at bay for a while.
